McPHERSON, GARY RAY "MAC," 62, husband of Patricia Johnson McPherson, died Friday May 13, 2011 at his residence.
Gary was born in Greenville, KY, the son of the late Ollie and Jessie Rainwater Whiteside. He was a former truck driver for Penske Logistics (Cardinal Health) and was a U.S. Army veteran. Gary was a member of the Bluegrass Squares and Taps and an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed bowling, wrestling, vacationing at Gulf Shores and most of all, life.
Besides his wife of 41 years he is survived by his son, David McPherson; sister, Gwenna Hornback (Dale); brother, Steven Whiteside; two grandsons, Cristian and Camerron McPherson; caregiver and niece, Jennifer Lovingood; godsons, Tony Pierce and Christopher Johnson, his faithful companion, Jade, and a large, caring and loving family.
He was preceded in death by niece, Heather Wilson.
A service celebrating Gary's life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Hwy. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Heuser Hearing Institute, American Diabetes Association or Hosparus of Louisville.
