George Fisher

April 26, 1917 — September 21, 2007

Fisher, George Harold View/Sign Guest Book FISHER, GEORGE HAROLD, 90, went to went to be with mom (his wife) and Ted (his son) on Friday, September 21, 2007. He served in World War II with the 68th Armored Field Artillery Division. He was a retired pipefitter with the L & N Railroad South Louisville Shop and he was the former owner of Beechmont Mechanical Plumbing Company. In his life's journey he went out west to build dams, fight forest fires, drive eighteen-wheelers and operate heavy equipment. He loved to walk in Iroquois Park and go to the Greenwood Boat Dock where he met great friends and had great times. He never met a stranger and took life one day at a time. He always said you should learn something new everyday. He also had a great love for his roses, and for all animals. He will be remembered as a kind, loving, honest and trusting man. He was and will always be our treasure and our world. He leaves behind two daughters, Cheryl Goddard and Nancy Brawand (Roger); one sister Bettie Dunnaway of Baltimore, MD; two brothers, Toby Perry (Dottie) of Randlestown, MD and Teddy Joe Perry (Ann) of Dundalk, MD, a sister-in-law, Mary L. Longenbohn; and Ted's girlfriend, Monica Zumstein of Floyds Knobs, IN. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Lisa Dawes, Denise Grimes, Mari Kay Dunn, Kristy "Shorty" Brawand, Sherry Hittle, Christopher Fisher and six great-grand children and many friends. The family would like to thank the nursing staff, rehabilitation staff and Sister Brigid from Britthaven of South Louisville for taking excellent care of him. He loved you all. Funeral: noon Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation: noon-8 p.m. Tuesday.
