RICE, GILBERT LEE SR., 93, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital.
He retired from V.A. Hospital after 35 years of service as a X-ray Technician. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, a member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel and a five year volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Vivian Marguerite Rice.
He is survived by his son, Gilbert Lee Rice Jr. (Donna); daughters, Wanda Darlene Corbin (Steve) and Debbie A. Green (Les); 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
His funeral service will be noon on Thursday at J.B. Ratterman & Sons-Grand Chapels, 4832 Cane Run Road with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 3 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 11 a.m. on Thursday.
