Gregory Alan Rountree

Gregory Alan Rountree. 72. Of Corydon, IN passed away on June 19^th, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his father Ed Rountree of Louisville, KY and his stepfather James E. Mertz of Corydon, IN, his brother David Slayton and sister in law Francis Slayton.

Greg grew up in Shively, KY area. Was a graduate of Butler High School Class of 1970. He later moved to Dallas, TX and earned his Registered Nursing degree from Dallas El Centro College in 1980, where he remained until he returned to the Louisville, KY and Corydon, IN area in 1987. His profession was as a RN, but his compassion extended far beyond his professionalism. Most of all he was a loving son, a beloved brother, and a caregiver up till his passing. Greg spent the last 7 ½ years primarily caring for his mother.

Greg had a love for animals and gardening. He enjoyed raising exotic Chickens, Peacocks, Ducks, Geese, and Cattle. He also enjoyed being with family and friends and dancing. In his last days he expressed gratitude towards friends and family for their support and willingness to care for him as well as tend to his animals.

Greg is survived by his mother Joyce Mertz, brother Steve Mertz (Joetta), brother Brad Mertz. Greg had many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He will be laid to rest on June 23rs, 2023 at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
