Gus Daleure

Gus G. Daleure Sr. ShareE-mail Visit Guest Book DALEURE, GUS G. SR., 87, of Shively, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Joanie Jenkins; his children, Gus "Skip" Daleure Jr. (Kim) and Gregory Daleure (Patti); grandchildren, Mackenzie Jo Daleure, Chrystal Jones and Kelly Daleure; and a brother, Harry Daleure. He was employed by General Electric from 1954 until his retirement in 1887. He was active in Mosaic United Methodist Church and Operation Appreciation. In 1993, Gus was operated on for lung cancer. The cancer had surrounded his aorta and the operation was aborted. He was given thirty radiation treatments and six months to live. Despite this, the cancer remained in total remission for the balance of his life. He enjoyed a full and active life until the last eighteen months, when a general decline in his health resulted in his eventual death at home, with family by his side. Services were handled by Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. A private memorial service with the family was held and burial was in Louisville Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
