SHRYOCK, HUGH A. "TEACH," 88, passed away April 29,2013 into the arms of his Heavenly Father with his loved ones by his side.

He was a retired schoolteacher, teaching in both Kentucky and Indiana, a Navy veteran of World War II, and attended Beechland Baptist Church. He was also a member of Dixie Post #220.

Hugh was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and the first president of IUE Local 761, he was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Eleanor (Mullikin) Shryock; children, Kenny Shryock, Pat Elder (Nancy) and Shirley Taylor; brother, Herman Shryock Jr.; sister, Dot Searcy; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be noon Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens (West). Visitation will be Thursday, 2-8 p.m.
