ELY, HIRAM, 91, Louisville, passed away on March 9, 2013.
Born March 6, 1922 in Soldier, KY, he was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II and a graduate of Morehead State University. He married the former Buena E. Wright in 1947 and together they owned and ran several businesses, including a Western Auto Store, in Salyersville, KY for 36 years.
He is survived by his wife Buena; son, Hiram Ely III (Terry); daughters, Debra Ely Douglas (Lindsey) and Darla Ely Gray (Dale); and grandchildren, Lindsey Russell Douglas IV, Spencer Ely Douglas, Garland Dale Gray IV, Sierra Kylan Gray, Hiram Colter Gray and Houston Zane Gray.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Earl Ely, his father Hiram Ely Sr., his mother Eliza Lunsford Ely, sister Miriam Ely Owens, and brother Edward M. Ely.
Arrangements will be handled Arch L. Heady Funeral Home at Westport Village. A private graveside service will precede interment.
