Houston Franklin Red "Frank" Lay | Visit Guest Book LAY, HOUSTON FRANKLIN "FRANK" "RED," 80, was born to Gertrude and Houston Arvil Lay on December 26, 1929 in Louisville and joined his heavenly Father June 18, 2010 at 1:23 p.m.
He was a retired Jefferson County Police Officer for 28 years from July 8, 1955 - February 1983, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Shawnee Masonic Lodge #830, and Valley View Church since accepting Christ at the age of 71 years.
Left to cherish his memory are sister, Fay Underwood, Jean Stringfield, referred to as sister; niece, Mary Ann Shepherd (Jerry and children); two devoted cousins, Wanda Burkhardt and Joyce Gipson; two loyal friends, Patrick "Pickle" Foster and Mack Martin, along with many friends and family members.
He will be remembered as a man with a generous heart.
Funeral services will be noon Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday. A Fraternal Order of Police service will be conducted at 7 p.m. and Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
Memorial gifts can be made to American Cancer Society or donor's choice.
