Sims, Irene Alvey,94, of Louisville, was called home to eternal life with her Heavenly Father on the beautiful morning of May 22, 2015. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving and devoted family under the excellent care of Hosparus.She was a former member of Home Builder's Association, KAPHCC, Louisville Apartment Association, and longtime Secretary of Woman's Auxiliary of the KAPHCC. Irene owned Sims Plumbing and Heating, Inc. with her husband, Louie. She also owned and operated Broadleaf Arms Apartments with her daughter, Anna.Irene was preceded in death by her devoted husband, George "Louie" Sims; her parents, Richard and Helen (Johnston) Alvey; six brothers and two sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory her much loved family: only child, Anna S. Burdette (Tom); granddaughters, Nikki Burdette Taylor (Ron) and Windi Burdette; and surrogate grandchildren, Maria Sturgeon, Jason Gossman, and Brandy Siemens. She was "Grandma Scoots" to her special great grandchildren, Dylan and Delaney Gossman and held several nieces and nephews fondly in her heart. A Mass to celebrate Irene's life will be 6pm Friday at St. Margaret Mary, 7813 Shelbyville Road. Visitation will be Thursday 2-8pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
