McGRATH, JAMES "JIM" RICHARD, 81, of Louisville, died Saturday October 8, 2011 at VA Medical Center.
He was retired as a deputy sheriff from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. He was a bartender at Duffy's Tavern for 35 years, and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #220, FOP Lodge #25, and a life member of VFW Post #5704.
He was preceded in death by his brother John McGrath.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Pat; sons, James Richard McGrath, II (Missy), Danny Kessinger (Lynn); daughters, Patty Fields (Les), Theresa Schablik (Bruce), Donna Rigney (John), and Nancy Hammond (Bob); 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Betty Zimmerman and Sharon Shively.
The family expresses a special thank you to all the staff at Veterans Administration Hospital, especially those at 5 North.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Incarnation Catholic Church, 2229 Lower Hunters Trace, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 1-8p.m. Tuesday at J.B. Ratterman & Sons-Grand Chapels, 4832 Cane Run Road.
