James Probus

69, of Portland, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 at Norton Pavilion Hospital.

Melvin worked as a press operator for Brinly-Hardy for 20 years, for Superior Drywall for 20 years, for Murray Security for 20 years and for J.B. Ratterman & Sons funeral home for 15 years. He loved helping people and being a handy man.

He was predeceased by his baby daughter, Tina Marie Probus, two sisters and four brothers.

He is survived by his soulmate, best friend and loving companion of 26 years, Darlene Wilhelm; two daughters, Darlene G. Robinson (Bill) and Brenda K. Wilhelm (Robert); a son, Joseph W. Probus; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

His Celebration of Life service will be 12pm Monday at J.B. Ratterman & Sons, 2114 W. Market St. with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 12pm to 8pm Sunday.
