James Roades

September 10, 1930 — August 15, 2007

James E. JR., 76, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Baptist Hospital East. He was born in Buford, OH. He retired from the Army after 20 years, served during the Korean War, and was a retired mechanic for The Louisville Gas and Electric Company. He was a Presbyterian by faith, a member of the Jeffersontown Masonic Lodge #744, The Scottish Rite, The Sanbugs with the Kosair Shrine, a Life Member of The VFW Post 8639, American Legion G.I. Joe Post 244, Jeffersontown Moose Lodge #2127, and The Jeffersontown Eagles # 3903. He is survived by Children, Linda Drain (Darrell), Teresa King, James Roades III (Alicia), Rebecca Arnold, Connie Roades, and Bonnie Roades; brother, Donnie Roades; a sister, Marilyn Varvel; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. Also survived by the Mother of his children, Marilyn Roades, and a loving companion, Shirley Sommer. His funeral service will be noon on Saturday, Owen Funeral Home Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Rd. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Kosair Charities.
