SCALF, JAMES "JIM" EDWARD, was born in Corbin, KY, on September 2, 1934 to Glenn and Ethel Scalf. He passed away March 12, 2013 at his home after a brief illness.
Jim married Zelma Joyce Carroll also of Corbin and two daughters were born. Later he married Marie Drake and her daughter who became part of the family.
After completing high school Jim went to work at P. Lorillard Company where he was foreman until his retirement. Jim enjoyed traveling especially loved the beach so he spent a lot of time on the beaches in Florida and South Carolina. Jim also enjoyed golfing in his spare time. Jim was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He also loved spending time with his friends.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Sautner (Jerry), of Gettysburg, SD, and Jayme Montin (Carlos Martinez), of Panama City, FL; stepdaughter, Sharon Barber of Louisville; his stepfather, O.A.(Ollie) Howell of Bowling Green, KY; his brother, Michael Howell of Bowling Green; six grandchildren, Colleen, Jerry, Jason, Billy, Shawn and Selenia; 10 great-grandchildren, nieces; and a special friend, Jimmy Sweeney.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Louisville Memorial Gardens East, 11601 Ballardsville Road. Arrangements have been entrusted to Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village. Please visit www.archlheadywestport.com to leave a condolence for the family.
