James A. Spear Share E-mail Visit Guest Book SPEAR, JAMES A., 76, of Louisville, died Monday, July 13, 2009 at Audubon Hospital.
He was born in Untiontown, PA. He lived most of his life in Louisville area. He was a press operator with RPM Business Forms, retiring in 1998 after 30 years. Mr. Spear served in the United States Air Force, including one year in Arabia and was a member of the Eastern Gate Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Sharon VanMeter; and his parents.
Surviving family includes his wife of 53 years, Emogene Perry Spear; son, Robert H. "Bob" Spear (Mandy); son, Keith D. Spear; son-in-law, Michael VanMeter; grandchildren, Jeremy, Aaron and Colton VanMeter, Whitney D. Shawn and Cody Spear, Krista M. Logsdon, Dylan Vineyard; great-grandchildren, Jeren and Sutton VanMeter; and brother, George E. Spear.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Anders officiating. Private burial will be in Louisville Memorial Gardens. The family and friends will gather 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers, if you wish, contributions to the American Diabetes Association , Louisville office, 161 St. Matthews Ave. Suite 3, Louisville, KY 40207.
