MELTON, JESSE ROBERT, 84, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Norton Audubon Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Jesse was born in Cumberland Co., KY to Harrison and Sallie (Thurman) Melton.
He was a retired carpenter with American Synthetic Rubber, with over 30 years service. He was a member of the Council of Carpenters AFL-CIO local # 64 and was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, a Kentucky Colonel and a proud member of Mosaic United Methodist Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Iva (Carter) Melton who passed in 2001, his parents; four brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Tatum (Mark) and Patti Mullen (Darlye); four grandchildren, Jennifer White (Todd), Julie Bennett (Kris), Caitlin Bowman (Tim) and Austin Mullen; one great-granddaughter arriving in March; brother, Gene Melton (Sharlene); and other family and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens, East. Visitation will be Tuesday, 2-8 p.m.
