Jo Cummins

November 10, 1930 — May 23, 2011

CUMMINS Jo Morgan, 80, of Lexington, KY, died May 23, 2011. Jo passed away peacefully with her husband at her side and her family finds comfort in her enduring faith and her graceful passing. She was born Nov 10, 1930 in the Eastwood suburb of Louisville, KY to Eugene G. and Minnie Frances (Mitchum) Morgan. She graduated from Jeffersontown High School and married Rev. George Walton Cummins, Jr. in 1950. Last August they celebrated sixty years of marriage together. He survives her passing. The youngest of six children, Jo is also survived by one sister, Mary Ella Singleton, Louisville, KY; two daughters, Rebecca Cummins Collins (Mike) and Cynthia Carroll Cummins; and two granddaughters, Kristin Collins Moomey (Marcus) and Courtney Collins Baird (Jason). Jo was a gifted artist, particularly with textiles, and graciously shared her numerous talents throughout her life with family, friends, and the many church homes served by Jo and George. She was exquisite in every sense of the word, and she leaves a lasting legacy of a beautiful life and a life made beautiful. Affectionately referred to as "bright eyes" by her husband, the true sparkle in her eyes was for her four great-grandchildren, Ella, Anna Pryor, Collin and Frances. They each possess the traits of intellect, creativity, independence and compassion that Jo will be remembered for. The family wishes to express gratitude to the many people that have touched their lives throughout this journey; Central Baptist Hospital, Cardinal Hill Hospital, Lexington Country Place and The Lafayette, ResCare Senior Care and Lifeline Home Health; and to the church families of Faith Baptist Church, Georgetown, and Calvary Baptist Church, Lexington, for their compassion and support. The service will be on Thu, 10:30am on May 26, 2011 at Milward-Southland, conducted by Dr. Robert Baker and Rev. Robert Fox. Burial will follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation, Wed, May 25 from 4-7pm. Memorials to Calvary Baptist Church of Lexington or Faith Baptist Church of Georgetown. www.milwardfuneral.com
