Black, Joe W. BLACK JOE W., 85, of Louisville passed away Thursday, May 17, 2007. He was a retired machine operator with Brown and Williamson, a member of South Jefferson Christian Church and an Army veteran of World War II and the recipient of four bronze stars. He enjoyed fishing, his church friends, and sitting on his front and back porch in his Cracker Barrel rocking chair. He also loved his trips to Florida and other places. He especially enjoyed his trips to his beloved Chattanooga, TN to visit his relatives, where he grew up. He also enjoyed telling stories and he especially loved his family. He is survived by his beautiful bride, Dorothy Vrlena Keown Black; loving son, Larry Joe Black; (Victoria); grandson, Dennis E. Harding (Laura); adorable great-granddaughters, Lauren and Alexis; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Meagan; sisters, Dorothy Parker and Beulah Smith; one brother, Jack L. Black and sister-in-law, Betty J. Johnson (Peter) and many nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held at noon on Monday at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home 7710 Dixie Highway and burial will follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. on Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday.
