John T. Bauer, 72, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Born on September 12, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky, John was the beloved son of Fred and Ann Bauer.
John’s life was a testament to his deep love for family. A devoted husband, father, and brother, he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He found great joy in coaching his daughters’ softball teams, where his unwavering support and encouragement were evident. His laid-back nature and minimalist approach to conversation were often underscored by his favorite phrase, “it’s alright,” a comforting reminder of his easygoing spirit.
John’s passions extended beyond family life. He was an avid fan of classic rock, with a special fondness for ZZ Top and Jimi Hendrix. He took immense pleasure in watching his beloved UK Wildcats and found solace in fishing, camping trips, and beach vacations in Florida. His admiration for classic cars was well-known, reflecting his appreciation for the finer things in life.
John T. Bauer will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were touched by his kindness, his quiet strength, and his steadfast love.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Fred F. Bauer, and Ann L. Duncalf Bauer; niece, Jill English; and a brother-in-law, Joe Rooney.
Left to cherish his memory, John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia Bauer; 2 daughters, Julie Bauer Scott, and Sara Bauer; 3 siblings, Terry Bauer (Marcia), Teresa McKune (Richard), and Sherry English (Charlie); brother-in-law, Eddie Rooney (Emily); 2 nieces, Kelly English, and Claire Rooney; 2 nephews, Matthew Bauer, and Corey Calandrino; and a host of extended family and close friends.
A funeral service for Mr. John Bauer will be held at 6 PM on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, 4400 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 2 PM to 6 PM, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Kentucky Humane Society or Ally Cat Advocates, in memory of John.
