John Russell Blankenship

John Russell Blankenship, 81, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023.  John was born on March 20, 1942, to the late Silas C. and Grace (Browning) Blankenship, Sr.,  in Man, West Virginia.

John was a Baptist and never wavered from his love of the Lord.  He was an excellent mechanic and retired from TARC after 33 years and always took great pride in the job he did.  John proudly served his country in the US ARMY.  He loved spending time making memories with his grandchildren.  John was married to the love of his life, Delorise, for 47 years before her passing in 2012.  John and Delorise raised two wonderful sons together and shared a life of love together.  He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Preceding John in death was his loving wife, Delorise Blankenship; and his siblings, Aileen Blankenship, Mercie Blankenship Ellis, Silas C. Blankenship, Jr., Ardith Perry, Edith Blankenship Grimmette Kirk and Dorothy Blankenship Steadman.

John is survived by his two sons, Kenny Blankenship and Curtis Blankenship (Karen); his four precious grandchildren, Andrew Blankenship, Amber Blankenship, Brandon Blankenship and Jonathan Blankenship; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held to honor John at 11AM on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Homes West, 4400 Dixie Highway.  Interment with military rites will immediately follow in the cemetery.  Friends may call on the family on Monday from 2PM until 6PM at the funeral home.
