BROWN, JOHN WILLIAM, 91, passed away Sunday March 13, 2011.
He was born on December 31, 1919 in Gleanings, KY. He was a farmer, construction worker, Navy veteran and retired from South Central Bell Telephone Company. He was a 50 year member of Lewis - Parkland Masonic Lodge #638, Communications Workers of America and Telephone Pioneers of America. In retirement he returned to his roots as a gentleman farmer in Shelby County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Enoch Marvin and Mattie Moore; brothers, Marvin, Bobby, Joseph, Harold, James Powell; his sister, Lucille; and his daughter, Sally Lynne Adams (Wally).
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Selma "Sally" Francis; his sisters, Lela Mae and Mary; his children, Cathy Sue Cook (Jimmy), John Michael Brown (Jane), and Jennifer Dolores Brown (Meagan); seven grandchildren, Roy Michael Wallace Adams (Kristie), Amy Rachel Apthorpe (Andrew), John Alexander Brown ( Monica), James Gregory Cook (Sarah), Michael Anderson Brown (Julie), Taylor Clarke Brown (Chelsea) and Matthew Scott Cook; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, with a memorial service immediately to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Hwy. A private burial will be held at a later time.
