GALLAWAY, JOHN C., 89, died on Tuesday, July 10, 2012.

He was a retired fork lift operator for Ford Motor Co. for 36 years and a member of Valley Station Baptist Church for 42 years. He served as a staff sergeant in the US Army in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He was wounded in action and awarded the Purple Heart .

Survivors include his daughter, Dorothy Kay Dixon (Bill); brother, Paul Gallaway; sister, Wanda Porter (Howard) and grandchildren, Amanda, Brittany and Jonathan.

His service will be noon Friday at the W.G. Hardy Funeral Home with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
