MARTIN, JOHN H., 94, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday morning, February 1, 2011 at home.
Born in Edmonson Co., the son of Hugh Martin and Lottie Lane, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Martin and is survived by his caregivers, niece, Kay Rivoli (Ron) and nephew, Arthur T. Starnes (Sue), nieces, Sue King and Velma Raymer, and other nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He retired from Celanese Coatings. He was a decorated World War II Army veteran with the 50th Combat Engineers and received the Bronze Arrowhead, Victory Medal WWII, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 Bronze Battle Stars and the Good Conduct Medal.
A service to celebrate Mr. Martin's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. Interment with military honors will be at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday.
