MORAN, JOHN JOSEPH "JACK" JR., 84, of Louisville passed away Friday, March 19, 2010.
He was born September 1, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late John Joseph Sr. and Martha Moran. He was a retired executive for American Air Filter. He was a long time member of John Knox Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he was president of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
He was a highly decorated war hero in the Army Air Corps having served during World War II. He flew 30 missions as a tail gunner on a B-24 "Liberator" and during his service was awarded four bronze stars among other military honors.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mae Conway Moran.
He is survived by his three daughters, Lizzie Moran Fitzgerald, Martha M. McClain (Todd), and Barbara Thompson (Steve). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Alec and Luke McClain, Austin (Philip) Anderton and Will Thompson. He is survived by two great-grandchildren, Mary Sterling and Jack Anderton.
All services will be private. Ratterman's, 3711 Lexington Road was entrusted with arrangements.
