Powers, John William,

88, went to be with his Heavenly Father, The Lord Jesus Christ Friday August 15, 2014 at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital.

Born in East Texas, KY, he retired after 33 years of service with LG&E He was Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Redeemer Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife Lorraine.

He is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Bowling (Tony), Patti Scott and Becky Compton (Buzz); sister Martha Jane Leigh; four grandchildren Ray Compton Jr, Jeremy Compton, David Yates Jr and Emily Hunt; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

His funeral will be 11 am Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Hwy, with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 1-8 pm Monday.
