Sweeney, Joseph Leonard,
died at his home on September 28, 2014, surrounded by his family.
He was born Sept. 26, 1946, in Louisville, to the late John and Ottie Pence Sweeney. He attended Ahrens Trade High School and served in the U.S. Army, including a tour of duty in Korea. He worked in the printing industry, the last 26 years at Publishers Printing in Lebanon Junction. He was an avid street rod enthusiast, active in local and national organizations and car shows.
Joe's survivors include wife Jennifer Sue Nelson Sweeney; daughter Melissa Dawn Roadcap (Bobby); son Michael Joseph Sweeney; and grandchildren Dylan Sweeney, Rachel and Sadie Roadcap, all of Louisville; a brother, John Marvin Sweeney Jr. (Judy) of Huntsville, Ala.; sister-in-law Frances R. Nelson Salyers (David); four nieces, two nephews, four great-nieces, six great-nephews, and many treasured cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Thelma.
There will be a Celebration of Joe's Life at noon on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, with Dignity Celebrant, Kathy Porter officiating, burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 2-8PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Because of Joe's love for street rods, we welcome any street rods to the visitation and/or procession.
