SHELBYVILLE - Burke, Kizzie Jane Belcher, 103, died Saturday, September 01, 2012 at Masonic Home in Shelbyville.
She was a member of the Shelbyville First Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel, and she received a Centenarian Award and a Letter from Congress. She was a pitcher for a women's professional softball team in the late 1920's and had a lifelong career in nursing. She was fully committed to God first, family second, and then to nursing and quilting.
She was preceded in death by husband, Frank Lewis Burke; sons-in-law, Glenn Todd, Richard Sipes and Willie Wade; and grandchild, Robbie Jones.
She is survived by children, Arnold Burke (Eileen), of Elizabethtown, KY, Barbara Todd of Fern Creek, Odetta Tucker (Walter) of Prospect, KY, Brenda Wade of Shelbyville, Larry Burke (Dot) of Louisville, Jerry Burke (Tamara) of Owensboro, KY and Sharron Jones (Bob) of Shelbyville; sister, Lenora Thompson of Catlettsburg, KY; 20 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Shelbyville First Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen Rice officiating. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
