SANDERS, LEE DOUGLAS SR., 96, passed away June 19,2013 at Green Meadows Nursing Home.
He was a member of Shively Baptist Church, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Shively Masonic Lodge 951, Shively Eastern Star Chapter #566 and past president and lt. governor of Dixie Louisville Kiwanis.
He was the former owner of Kentucky Pen Wholesale Co.
He is preceded in death by his parents Dora (Haas) Sanders and Lee A. Sanders; brother Ray H. Sanders and sister Elsie Stowers.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years Maude J. (Hammonds) Sanders; daughter Janet L. Hughes (Bill), son Lee Douglas "Doug" Sanders Jr. (Suanne); three grandsons Kevin and Kenny Hughes (Karen) and Lee Douglas "Trey" Sanders III (Beth); four great-grandchildren, Kase, Kristopher, Easton and Ellie Hughes and one Sanders on the way; sister-in-law Joetta Sanders and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shively Baptist Church, 1599 Sadie Lane with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens (West). Visitation will be Friday, 2 -8 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., and after 10 a.m. at the church on Saturday.

Donation can be made in lieu flowers to the Shively Area Ministries and Dixie Louisville Kiwanis.
