WILKINS, M. LEON, 79, passed from his earthly journey into a more perfect world on October 14, 2012 at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital.

He was a professed Christian Believer by faith.

Leon was born January 20, 1933 to the late Edna and Sanford Wilkins.

He was predeceased by his only child, Michelle Rene' Wilkins; and his younger brother, Bertrand Wilkins (Virginia), both of whom he so missed for many years.

" Cosmo" as he was affectionately known by many, was an avid fan of U of K sports, NASCAR, a fisherman, and was a great collector of historical and interesting artifacts of all kinds. He was a proud Air Force veteran of the Korean War era, an NRA member, and a Masonic Lodge member of Valley Lodge over 50 years. He was employed most of his adult life at Schmutz Mfg., and was a highly skilled trades craftsman.

Leon is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 59 years, Mildred Ward Wilkins, both of whom graduated from Valley High in 1952; his brother, Richard (Betty) Wilkins; one nephew; five nieces; brothers-in-law, Darrell (Paula) Ward, Ray Ward, and James Brown, and a host of many little 2nd and 3rd generation nephews and nieces. And lots of friends. Visitation for Leon will be 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home and Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. at 5317 Dixie Hwy. His services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday with visitation from 9 a.m. until service. Minister Garnet Tucker officiating. Burial will be at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
