SEXTON, MABEL WALKER, 90, passed away Friday August 19, 2011 at home with her loving children around her.
Born to Leonard and Mayne Walker on July 31, 1921 in Nell, KY, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, James Auston Sexton Sr.; daughter, Connie Rider; and grandson, Chad Casteel.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She was a long time member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, James Auston Sexton Jr., Dorothy Casteel (Chuck), Jeanette Becker (Michael) and Steven Sexton (Shelley); son-in-law, Dave Rider; grandchildren, Heather Sexton, Auston Sexton (Keri), Maggie Burd (Kelly), Brooke Dawson (Darren), John Michael Sullivan, David Rider and Clayton Sexton; and great-grandchildren, Kaden Burd and Sam Dawson.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday August 23, 2011 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Her family would like to express their deepest appreciation to her loving caregivers, Lucy Marlatt and Mary D. Meredith.
