DOUGLAS, MARCELLA "MARCY" "NANA" CAMPBELL, 87, former Louisville, resident died peacefully on October 14, 2012, at Lineville Health Center in Lineville, AL.
Marcella was born in Hazard, KY, on December 27, 1924 to John E. Campbell and Nora McIntosh Campbell.
Mrs. Douglas was married to Dr. James E. Douglas (deceased).
She is the mother of James E. Douglas II of West Palm Beach, FL, John William Douglas of Wheeling, WV, Mary Ann Douglas Cleveland of Wadley, AL and Joseph Allen Douglas of Wheeling, WV, all of whom she and her husband raised in Louisville.
Mrs. Douglas graduated from the University of Kentucky. She assisted in her husband's dental office. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
She was a Christian and a member of Northeast Christian Church. She was devoted to her Bible studies and enjoyed playing golf at Hunting Creek Country Club and bridge with her husband and friends. Mrs. Douglas was a woman of faith, who demonstrated humility and love for the Lord in all that she did. She always strived to serve her family and friends before herself. Due to chronic illness, she spent her last years living with her children in West Virginia, Alabama, and Florida. Living away from home in her later years, she often voiced how she missed her friends from Louisville, specifically Peggy Bruckert. "Nana" was an inspiration to many and her example will long be remembered. She was a wise woman and a great lady.
She is predeceased by her brother, William Campbell; and sister, Louise Campbell Norman. Mrs. Douglas is survived by her four children; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Thank you to Betty and Jim Cleveland who were loyal friends, her Joy Sunday school class, JoLynn who took her on outings, Jeannie who enabled "Nana" to live at home until her last six weeks, also the kind and helpful attention she had at Lineville Health Center, and many other beloved friends who were present throughout her life.
"A wise woman builds her house..." Proverbs 14:1a.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation is noon until time of service.
