French, Martha E. View/Sign Guest Book Donate Now FRENCH, MARTHA E., 86, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. She was a retired employee of National Distillery, where she worked for 25 years, and a member of Beechland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jamie French, and brothers, Harding Bowling and Ray Bowling. Survivors include her devoted husband and loving caregiver, James I. French, Jr.; a son, James Douglas "Doug" French; daughters, Phyllis Hartlage (Doug) and Brenda Gentry (Dale); a sister, Malvia Szczapinski; brothers, Sim and Steve Bowling; 5 grandchildren, Kelly Hartlage, Todd Hartlage (Nicky), Donald French (Martha), Jennifer Petaja (Matthew), and Justin Gentry (Caitlin); and five great-grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. pm Friday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, followed by burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association or her church.
