Jenkins, Martha Newman View/Sign Guest Book JENKINS, MARTHA NEWMAN, 98, of Louisville, passed away surrounded by her loving family Sunday, April 26, 2009. Born in Superior, WI, on February 22, 1911, of immigrant parents from Finland, she believed growing up on a farm led to her longevity. She retired from the old Shively Bacon's Department Store. Martha enjoyed working and the people she met along the way. She was a long time member of Shively Baptist Church, where she had many Christian friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clyde H. Jenkins; sons, Francis and James L. Jenkins; daughter, Carol Ling; sisters, Ruby Raymond, Evelyn Lee and Hazel Norquist; and brothers, John and Russell Newman. Survivors include her daughters, Lavaun Hoppman and Patricia Donald (Bill); sons, Clyde N. Jenkins (Dale) and Henry B. Jenkins (Diane); grandchildren, Barbara, Linda, Janice, Barry, James, John, Clint, Allen, Elizabeth, and William; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and sisters, Elma Sandhal and Sylvia Wisti-Bloxham. Funeral services will be Wednesday at noon at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy., with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 until service time Wednesday.
