KAMER, MARTIN A. SR., 90, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008. Mr. Kamer managed the old Kroger store in St. Matthews for over 23 years and retired from Kroger after 40 years of employment. He served the St. Matthews community for over 50 years, as a St. Matthews Volunteer Firefighter, Asst. Fire Chief and Fire Inspector. Mr. Kamer drove for Funeral Auto Company after his retirement from Kroger. He was an Army Veteran having served during World War II, a member of the Gruetli Helvetia Society and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Louivinia L. Dietrich Kamer. He is survived by two sons, Marty A. Kamer Jr. (Sissy), of Lakeside Park, KY, and David A. Kamer (Tamra) of Louisville; three daughters, Patricia A. Berry (John), Janice M. Nordmann (John) and Mary Margaret Pierce (David), all of Louisville; 15 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. His funeral Mass will be celebrated noon Wednesday, November 26, 2008, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 508 Breckenridge Lane with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday, Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the WHAS Crusade for Children.
