GEARY, MARY RUTH, 91, wife of the late James A. Geary, died Monday November 14, 2011 at the Masonic Home in Louisville.
Born in Ohio Co. May 22, 1920 she is the daughter of the late Robert and Navada Bratcher Morris. Mrs. Geary retired from the Jefferson Co. Board of Education, she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Lee's Lane Baptist Church, she loved quilting and playing bingo, board and card games.
She is survived by three daughters, Marnella Phelps (Foch), Nancy Blakeman (Steve) and Brenda Shouse; one son, Rodger Geary (Jean); one sister, Margie Withrow; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Shirley Oakes; son, Floyd Geary; grandson, Tommy Phelps and five sisters.
A service celebrating Mary's life will be held Thursday at 2 pm EST at Echols Baptist Church in Rockport (Ohio Co.). Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Hwy., Louisville, and from noon to 2 p.m. EST Thursday at the church.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Masonic Home for the care given their mother.
