Mary Elizabeth Markwell MARKWELL, MARY ELIZABETH, 88, of Louisville passed away Tuesday April 13, 2010.
Mary was born in Louisville on May 3, 1921 to Claude M. and Margaret Catherine Doyle Morrison. Mary attend Okolona High School and graduated from Nazareth college, she retired from Jefferson County Public Schools, was a gifted English teacher who began her career at Presentation Academy, she taught for many years at Valley and Southern High School. After retirement she continued teaching adult education until she was over 80 years of age. She once published a book about her teaching experiences entitled "To Hellwith The Circus." Mary is survived by her sister, Ruth Renzi, who lived with her. Aunt Mary was also survived by her loving nephew and nieces, Joe (Nancy), Linda, Rebecca (Willy), Robyn and Sherri (Marsha) Renzi also survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Aunt Mary was a generous, intelligent and wonderful lady with a tremendous sense of humor. She extended her heart and her home to any friend or family member who needed her and she will be greatly missed.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with visitation after 10 a.m. Saturday.
