Maude Sanders

Sanders, Maude,94, was born October 8, 1920 and passed away on November 30, 2014.She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Lee Douglas Sanders, Sr.; her parents; her aunt and uncle who raised her, Maude and George Jackson; one brother, four sisters, a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.She was the former Maude Hammonds Jackson and was a homemaker for many years. She worked with her husband when he started Kentucky Pen Wholesale Company. She loved doing ceramics and was the queen of homemade rolls. A member of Shively Baptist Church, Past Matron of Shively Star #566, Past Grand Chaplin and Grand Representative to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island of KY OES, served as a member of the Rainbow Girls board, was Past President of Dixie Louisville Kiwanis, a member of Shively Homemakers, Past member of Valley Woman's Club, Past President of Cane Run, Kerrick Elementary Schools and Valley High School PTA.Thanks to the staff at Green Meadows Health Care for their loving care.Survivors include her daughter, Janet Hughes (Bill); son, Lee Douglas Sanders, Jr. (Suanne); grandsons, Kevin and Kenny (Karen) Hughes and Trey Sanders (Beth); great grandchildren, Kasey, Kristopher, Easton and Ellie Hughes and Theo Sanders; sister-in-law, Joetta Sanders; and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be noon Thursday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday.Memorial gifts may be made to Shively Area Mininstries.
