Thompson, Mildred Louise Scott,was born February 24, 1930 in Metcalfe Co., KY. She passed away September 21, 2015 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, IL.She is survived by her son, Lynn Thompson, of Good Hope, Il, a sister Betty Childress of Munfordville, Ky, two sisters-in-law, Alice Smythe (Fred), of Hardyville, KY, and Ramonia Scott of Virginia Beach, VA. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends both in Kentucky and Illinois.She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Thompson, mother Della Atwell Scott, father Curtis Everett Scott, five brothers, James L. Scott, Victor W. Scott, Wendell C. Scott, Roger D. Scott and Raymond D. Scott, and one sister Naomi E. Kolb.Mildred worked her entire career in food service in Louisville. For 35 years she made biscuits and gravy and homemade pies six mornings a week at Peterson's Cafeteria (later Jane's Cafeteria) located in the Louisville Produce Terminal. She would leave home at 2:30 a.m. to begin work at 3 p.m. and then her shift usually ended around 1:45 p.m. She never took a formal break or sat down to eat. She was friendly with every produce truck driver and delivery person in the Louisville Metro area. She also worked at Brays Restaurant, the Country Boy Restaurant, Rainbow Downs Restaurant, and Big Spring Country Club, among others.In 2005, following the death of her husband, Mildred moved to Good Hope, IL to be close to her son. Together they purchased a large old farm house, which was her joy. She spent the last 10 years of her life enjoying homemaking and the fruits of her retirement. The last six with her faithful dog Emily following every step she took.Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nunnelley Funeral Home, 4327 Taylor Blvd. Funeral service: 1 p.m. Friday at Middletown United Methodist Church, 11902 Old Shelbyville Road with Rev Nancy Tinnell, officiating. Visitation at the church will be held from 11 a.m. to service time. Burial is at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. A memorial service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1212 W. Calhoun St., Macomb, IL on Saturday October 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. with lunch to follow.
