Monroe Shofner

July 8, 1946 — July 14, 2010

SHOFNER, MONROE THOMAS, 64, of Louisville, passed on to eternal life on Wednesday, July 14, 2010. He was a native of Taylor County, KY. Monroe served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for 30 years, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and the YMCA. He faithfully attended Northeast Christian Church and served as a volunteer at the Home of the Innocents.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Peggy Shofner; daughter, Heather Shofner; two grandsons, whom he adored, Austin and Brayden Shofner; ten brothers and sisters; Frances Gilpin of Campbellsville, KY, Viola Watson of Campbellsville, Kaye Hatcher of Campbellsville, Scotty Shofner of Murfreesboro, TN, Dean Shofner of Lexington, Nevon Wolf of Virginia, Tama Dixon of Owensboro, Jane Milby of Campbellsville, Gail Moravec of Texas and Donnie Shofner of Campbellsville; uncle, James Shofner.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Shofner will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2010 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 7410 Westport Road. Burial will follow with full Military Honors at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Friday. Online condolences may be left at www.archlheadywestport.com
