Newman Oakes

OAKES, NEWMAN "WOODY," 79, died Sunday, May 27, 2012.

He was a native of Matewan, WV, a Navy veteran during the Korean War. He was also a retired tool, die and machine designer. He was politically active and strongly opposed to all religion based wars.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Heslin Oakes; and many close friends.

Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Pearson Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road with burial immediately thereafter at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
