COFFEY, NICHOLAS JAMES, 19, passed away Friday, May 8, 2009, at Baptist Hospital East. He was born in Walnut Creek, CA, where he attended Mary Jane's Preschool and Walnut Creek Christian Academy. He is a former member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Concord, CA. In 2001 he moved to Louisville, and graduated from DuPont Manual High School in 2008. He had just completed his freshman year at the University of Louisville where he was majoring in physics. He is a former member of Boy Scout Troop 30 in Louisville. He was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity and the The Society of Physics Students. He enjoyed being with friends, gaming, movies, military history, school and his fraternity. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Robert and Edith Jinkins; and an aunt, Peggy Sue Jinkins. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Patricia Coffey-Ward (Jinkins) and Gary Ward, of Louisville; his father and step-mother, David Coffey (Cinda), of Lodi, CA; three sisters, Stephanie Coffey, Samantha Ward and Sarah Ward, all of Louisville; two uncles, James Jinkins of Crestwood, KY, and Robert Jinkins (Terri) of Walnut Creek, CA, two aunts, Windie Bollig (Byron), of Ft. Collins, CO, and Judy Lorda (Robert), of Denver, CO; grandparents Matt and Judy Coffey of Lakewood, CO; and numerous cousins and friends. His funeral service is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, 901 Breckinridge Lane. Visitation will precede the funeral service from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a reception at the church following the funeral service. Burial will be in Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
