UPTAGRAFFT, NORMAN A., 80, of Shelbyville, passed away October 4, 2011 at Jewish Hospital.

He was born in Pensacola, FL on October 11, 1930 to the late Greely and Tamsey Wall Uptagrafft. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a former member of the Moose Lodge.

He was retired from the United States Army serving in the Infantry Division and also worked as an Air Traffic Controller in the Army as well as the Federal Government. He was a three war Veteran serving in World War II, Korean and Vietnam.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy Warner Uptagrafft; a daughter, Gena Gerth (Chuck); a son, Ken Uptagrafft; and four grandchildren, Brittany Loewen (Joshua), Tiffany Gerth, Tyler Gerth and Megan Uptagrafft.

A celebration of his life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2011 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 11406 Ballardsville Road with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Sunday at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road and noon-2 p.m. on Monday at the church.
