JENSEN, PAUL E., 86, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Episcopal Church Home.
Born in New Albany, IN to the late Paul Jensen and Ida Proctor Jensen, he moved with his family to Louisville three years after he was born. In 1943, Paul graduated from Louisville Male High School, where he was a member of the ROTC and the ROTC Marching Band. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in North Africa and Italy. After his Army service, Paul enlisted in the "Ready Reserves" and served for 38 uninterrupted years before retiring as command sergeant major.
Paul Jensen was a lifetime member of BPOE No 8, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Highland Post, Retired Enlisted Association, and Association of Uniform Services. He was a sales rep for General Rubber & Supply on Preston Street with 28 years service.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lonnie Jensen; nieces, Kathryn Maerz (John), Anne Simon (Dan), Betty Dysart, Brenda Strause (Jim), Barbara Steinbach (Jim), Bernice Scherr (Eddie), and Belinda Smith; and nephews Mark Smith (Cath) and Mark Smith (Michelle).
His service will be at 1 p.m. on January 5, 2011 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
