SLOAN, RALPH G. "GILLY", 85, of Louisville, left our world to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 4, 2007. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served with the United States Marines. He was a retired manager of maintenance with Greyhound Lines, Inc., where he worked for 45 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He loved trips in the van with "Nanny", baking, and his family was everything to him. He was a man who lived his life consistently doing the right thing. He defined unconditional love and hard work. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Wilma T. Sloan "Nanny"; three sons, Tommy Sloan (Thuy), Geary Sloan (Kiyomi), Mike Sloan (Karen); four granddaughters, Michelle Vest (David), Angie Stanley (Jason), Julie Greenwell (Adam), Michelle Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Chandler and Callie Stanley, Ben, Henry, Mary Grace and Lilly Vest; Skylar Greenwell and Dee Dee Johnson. A private military graveside service will be 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
