Retha Morris

Morris, Retha Catherine MORRIS, RETHA CATHERINE, 84, died peacefully, Friday, May 4, 2007 in Lexington surrounded by her loving family. She was the 7th of nine children of the late Claude and Lula Simmons of Franklin, WV. She married Robert Morris in 1944 and they shared 63 joyous years of marriage. They had two children, Robert Preston and Judy Ilene. She lived most of her life in Louisville, KY. Known as Maw-Maw, she spoiled five grandchildren, Rhonda, James, Bradley, Andrew and Christopher; and eight great-grandchildren, Lucille, Justin, Jackson, Reagan, Walker, Colton, Lucas and Julianna Catherine who shares her name, blue eyes and blonde hair. Retha always had an open door, a kind word and a warm meal for anyone who needed it. Her favorite flower was the snap dragon. For those who would like to celebrate her life, funeral services will be held in Louisville at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway at 11 a.m. on Monday. Burial will be in Louisville Memorial Gardens, West. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Published in The Courier-Journal on 5/6/2007.
