He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Christina Nelson.
He was the beloved husband of Doris Tronzo Nelson; the father of Richard Thomas Nelson Jr., Patrick Bruce Nelson, Linda Lee Dembrow, and Susan Kay Curry; grandfather to six grandchildren; and brother to Huelette Nelson Jr.
Private services were held. Arrangements entrusted to Arch L. Heady Russman & Sons.
