BYRNE, RITA JOSEPHINE, 95, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at her residence.
She was born in Louisville to the late Frank and Constance Olges Stettenbenz.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Martha Catholic Church; former member of St. Helen Catholic Church and the Altar Society, and a member of the DAV Auxiliary Unit #6.
She was preceded in death by, other than her parents, her husband, John B. Byrne; a son, John "Jack" Byrne; grandson, Kyle Jackey; sisters, Anna May Senn and Helen Barnes; great-grandson, James; and son-in-law, Angelo Passanisi.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathleen Kostin (Bob), Frances Passanisi, and Mary Jackey (Jerry); 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014 at St. Martha Catholic Church, 2825 Klondike Lane, with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, where a prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
