GAHAFER, R. GLENN "POP," 81, passed away on September 2, 2011.
He was a retired employee of Ford Motor Co., a member of the American Legion #220, VFW Post 2921, Rat Racers Dance Club, a 1993 inductee of the Softball Hall of Fame, and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gahafer, son, Richard Gahafer, grandson, Kevin Edward Puckett, parents, August and Alma Gahafer, sisters, Elizabeth Bierne, Norma Mayes and Verna Gaus; and his brothers, Maurice and Daniel Gahafer.
Survivors include his children, Ed Puckett (Janine), Deborah Bueno (Luis), Mike Puckett (Brenda), Glenn Gahafer, Dennis Gahafer, and Karen Lawrence (Bill); 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his brothers, Dave Gahafer (Dot) and Raymond Gahafer; and his sister, Cassie Smith (Owen).
Funeral services will be noon Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with entombment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday and noon - 8 p.m. Monday.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital. Special thanks is also given to Mike and Brenda Puckett for opening their home and hearts to take care of "Pop." Expressions of sympathy may be made to Kosair Charities.
