Zangmeister, Robert Lee "Bob" Sr.,1/15/1922 - 1/18/2015. A World War II veteran, he was the founder and owner of the Hobby House on Preston Highway until he retired in 1985. Prior to the Hobby House, he was the founder and owner of Helen's Chili Parlor on Walnut Street.Among those who preceded him in death was his first wife of 56 years, Virginia Scott Zangmeister, his daughter, Gloria Carricato, son-in-law Don Carricato, and his stepson, Dr. William Estes. He leaves to cherish his memory his second wife, Elsie Estes Zangmeister, son Robert Zangmeister Jr; daughter-in-law Cheryl Zangmeister, stepson Don Estes, stepdaughter Marjorie Best, seven grandchildren, Dan Carricato, Laura Blair, Steve Carricato, Dr. Chris Zangmeister, Dr. Nicholas Carricato, Kimberly Crawford and Christina Hodge; four stepgrandchildren, Kimberly Reinisch, Caroline Estes, Brandon Best and William Estes; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Middletown Christian Church, a 60 year, Honorary 33rd Degree Mason belonging to Cresent Hill Lodge #456, Swigert Middletown Lodge #218, the Scottish Rite, York Rite, Kosair Shrine and several other Masonic organizations.Bob's funeral service will be 10 am Friday January 23, 2015, at Ratterman Funeral Home East Louisville, KY 40243 with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West Cemetery to follow. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be donated to KOSAIR Charities in his honor.
