Clemens, Ronald L. View/Sign Guest Book CLEMENS, RONALD L., 64, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008 after battling Lou Gehrig's disease. Ronald was a marine from 1965-1969 as a sergeant, where he served two tours of war. He was awarded a National Defense Service Award and two stars were awarded for his service in The Vietnam War. He was a police officer for the Shively Police Department and the Lousiville Metro Police. He served on the board for the Louisville Police Department Credit Union. He was also honorary captain of the Belle of Louisville riverboat and a Kentucky Colonel from 1982 until present. He was inducted in the fourth annual Hall of Fame celebration on January 24, 2008. He enjoyed riding his Harley in his spare time. He was most proud of the service he provided to the City of Louisville. He is survived by his mother, Mary R. Durbin of Bardstown, KY; sister, Judy Pierce (James) of Macon, GA; nephew, Steve Pierce (Allison) of Macon, GA; and great-nephews Parker and Carson Pierce of Macon, GA. He also raised two children as his own, David Roth and Jenny Sakho. He is also survived by many friends and police officers. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Meadows South. His service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
