Russell Herter

September 20, 1932 — June 26, 2013


HERTER, RUSSELL REX, 80, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Norton Suburban Hospital.

He was a native of Terre Haute, IN, born to the late Russell and Lucille Herter. Russell was a retired electrical maintenance employee for Duke Energy, formerly PSI, a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a volunteer for the JCPS "Everyone Reads" Program and the JCPS Volunteer Talent Center, Habitat For Humanity, and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Kotheimer Biel Herter; children, Steve Herter, Mark Herter, and Julie Catlett; stepchildren, Dr. Gary Biel, Karen Chase, Jeffrey Biel, Darryl Biel, Paul Biel, and Jennifer Lamb; grandchild, Helen Catlett; step-grandchildren, Christian Biel, Taryn Chase Greenman, Tyler Chase, Joshua Biel, Tristan Munoz, Lauren Biel, Haley Biel, Jacob Biel, Dylan Biel, Delaney Biel, Sydney Lamb, and Ethan Lamb; and great-grandchildren, Kassidy Carter, Maggie Grace Munoz, and Emmalynn Munoz.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherry Wood Rd., with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Rd., in St. Matthews.
